Grace Balloch Memorial Library is located at 625 N. Fifth Street in the Spearfish City Services building. The library is currently open:

Circulation:

Circulating materials are loaned for three weeks.

Video cassettes and DVDs are loaned for one week.

Materials may be renewed by telephone two times at (605)642-1330 (unless there are hold requests on that item) or online.

Circulating materials may be reserved.

Overdue fines are TEN CENTS A DAY, up to the cost of the book. Overdue fines for video cassettes or DVDs are $1.00 A DAY, per movie.

Grace Balloch Memorial Library includes more than 11,000 square feet of space, housing over seventy thousand items available for check out. Our library is also home to specialized collections such as the South Dakota History room and the Dick Ruddell baseball book collection.

Also included in the new library building are individual study rooms for research and tutoring. Children's services include 2 multimedia computers, a Peek-a-Book, plus thousands of individual children's titles in print and audio format. From June through July, the Summer Reading program is available to all children, and from September until May the Library regularly hosts Story Times. Check with the library (642-1330) for more information on our special programs.

Grace Balloch Memorial Library is a full member of the South Dakota Library Network, with access to roughly 4 million materials through inter-library loan. Various research and magazine article databases funded by SDLN and the State Library of South Dakota are available through SDLN, as well as a computerized Card Catalog system. The library has nine multimedia/internet terminals with internet access and a wireless network for visitors with laptops.
